December Gale, Holywell Bay

MAY 2023

The painting (cropped) above on this occasion is of an iconic view in this part of the world, the dramatic Gull Rocks of Holywell Bay on the North Cornwall coast, a few miles west of Newquay. The inspiration for this artwork came from a visit to the beach on 5th December, 2021 - possibly my first ever - and one I'd planned to make for a long time. No balmy spring theme here, 'December Gale, Holywell Bay' is an attempt to capture what it felt like that day when sustained onshore winds buffeted the shore, driving the sea forward and whipping stinging sand into the air.  Definitely not comfortable, but an exciting and elemental experience nevertheless.

Click 'Current Work' for information about this soon to be available painting and artworks.

Having displayed artwork online for many years via blogs sea-blue-sky-abstracts and picture from st ives and more recently on Twitter and Instagram, here's a glimpse of my journey as an artist over the decades.  Thanks for visiting.
